Reese Orthodontics Newsletter: Summer 2019

Welcome to Reese Orthodontics, your Charleston, SC premier Invisalign and Braces professional. We look forward to helping you obtain your best smile.

Greetings!!

Welcome to the summer issue of the Reese Orthodontics Newsletter. My name is Reese McElveen and I hope that through this newsletter we can forge a relationship.  No screen time or dentistry, just some paper and ink, a little bit about me, my family, and our life.

Sunscreen, pool, screaming bedtime routine….Sunscreen, beach, screaming bedtime routine… repeat.  This pretty much sums up our summer life.  Burning the candle at both ends.  We do not stop to rest because it’s too hot to do anything outside and it is too crazy to stay inside.

As promised, here is an update on the old dad kiteboarding trip.  It included 15 guys in the Outer Banks with the objective to kite as much as possible.  We got three full days of kiting with no injuries. Yay!  As a result of going on the trip and in an attempt to fight off old man disease, I bought another toy… the foilboard. A foilboard can be used with a kite or for surfing.  A foilboard is a board that seems to be hovering above the water’s surface while riding.  Google it; it’s awesome.

My son Luke recently learned to wakeboard and is obsessed. He is so small he looks like a little water spider on the water.  We lost our first fingernail after Lyda got a door slammed on her finger. She has also tasted life without swimmies and now refuses to wear them.  Eli at 1.5 is fearless in the water. He dives and does flips just like the big kids. We have only had to pull him off the bottom three times. Caleb finished out the swim season on a strong note, while Luke’s career ended after three failed attempts that included me jumping in and peeling him screaming off the lane lines.  I recently took the boys to see a movie called Bethany Hamilton: Unstoppable.  I highly recommend it. A great surf movie with a great message. Our week-long family trip to Bald Head Island has been canceled because they are still recovering from last year’s hurricane.  Instead, we are headed to Great Wolf Lodge for a day then to the lake for a whole week of playtime.

Once again I have started doing surfboard pop-ups on the bedroom ottoman to prepare for hurricane season. Hoping we have a lot of hurricanes that safely make their way 100 miles off the coast. Blessings and be on the lookout for the Fall newsletter!
